ⓔノート3-6-1　老化の定義

　最古の老化の定義は，ある英国の保険数理士により「死の確率は，年齢とともに対数的に増加する」と記載されている1)．1960年頃には，A. Comfort (最初の老化生物学教科書の著者) やNW. Shock (米国の老年学者) が，「老化とは死にやすくなること」と定義した．のちに，ヒト観察研究で「死にやすくなること」が確認された2)．
